The following vehicles are used by the Palos Hills Police Department:

: F150 Squad

: Polaris

: The Motorcycles are used in Patrol, Traffic Control, and during special events.

: The Palos Hills Police Department Command Center. This vehicle is used by administration in on-scene emergencies.

: The Tactical Response Vehicle is used by the S.W.A.T.T. team.

: Purchased with the assistance of a ComEd grant, this message board / speed trailer allows the Palos Hills Police Department to broadcast messages to the public as well as display speeds of vehicles on the roadway to assist in keeping our roads safe.

Unemployment Fraud Alert

According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), unemployment systems across the
country are seeing an increase in fraud of unemployment insurance programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. If anyone believes that unemployment fraud is being committed, please contact IDES at 1-800-814-0513 or 1-877-566-6230. You can also file a complaint online at

Expired Prescription Drug Collection

Effective January 23, 2017, The Palos Hills Police Department will begin receiving expired prescription drugs that residents wish to legally destroy. A sealed drop box is now available in the lobby of the police department and residents may drop off narcotics during normal business hours, 9:00-5:00, Monday through Friday.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department will pick up and destroy the narcotics once a month.

Be Aware of I.R.S. Phone Scams

The Palos Hills Police Department wishes to warn all residents that large increases in individuals fraudulently calling people, claiming to be an IRS official are being made. Unsolicited calls and robocalls to taxpayers are being made, and they are demanding that people send them cash.

Parking on City Streets from 2am to 6am

Per City Ordinance 10.08.040

No motor vehicle shall be parked, stopped or left standing, whether attended or unattended, on a public thoroughfare, public highway or street in Palos Hills between 2:00AM and 6:00AM on any day of the week.

Overnight Parking Exceptions:

All night parking shall be granted provided the citizen contacts our dispatch centers non-emergency number (708) 598-2151 and provides their name, address, vehicle information and telephone number.

Exception may only be granted up to three times per year for (3) consecutive nights each. Any extension must be approved by The Police Department Watch Commander.

No overnight exceptions shall be given when snow begins to fall until snow removal operations have been completed. The police department may also suspend overnight exceptions anytime overnight snowfall is expected.

Please DO NOT call 9-1-1 for overnight parking.
