On 13 February 2025 police were called to the 8200 block of 100th Place in reference to a Theft. The complainant explained that an unknown red vehicle pulled up to their mailbox. The passenger in the rear seat rolled down their window and removed the mail from the complainant’s mailbox and fled. The complainant had two checks for pickup service in the mailbox. The incident is under investigation.
On 13 February 2025 police were dispatched to the police department in reference to a Deceptive Practices. The complainant explained that in January they received a text from their credit card company, Citibank, inquiring if they made a purchase at Monotaro in Chicago for $97.62. The complainant followed the prompt and replied it was not them. Then in February 2025, the complainant logged into their Citibank credit card account and discovered several unauthorized charges totaling $2,835.24. All the charges were made in Chicago from January 2025 to February 2025. The complainant notified Citibank of the fraudulent charges immediately. The incident is under investigation.
To keep yourself safe from a vishing attack, the most important thing to remember is you should never provide or confirm personal information over the phone. Remember that credit card companies, banks, and government officials will never call asking for sensitive information.
Always lock your vehicle, even when it’s parked in your driveway or garage. Always take your key fob and garage door opener with you. Please dial 911 immediately if you observe any suspicious people or activity.
